Places to Scatter Ashes in Missouri
This massive state park includes 3 state-designated Natural Areas, and the forests are filled with pine and oak, sandstone bluffs and canyons, and clear sand-bottomed streams. Any place in this beautiful park would be a wonderful place to scatter the ashes of a nature lover.
Photo CreditThe Missouri Botanical Garden is located in St Louis, Missouri. Some of the displays here include the Chinese Garden, the Sachs Butterfly House, and the Victorian District. It is a perfect place to escape the bustling city, and hold a serene and peaceful scattering for your loved one. Be sure to contact the Garden before your arrival and ensure you have permission.
Photo CreditAdditional Notes on Scattering Cremated Remains in Missouri
Missouri law allows you to scatter ashes over uninhabited public land with permission/a permit, over a public waterway or sea, or on private property of a consenting owner. If scattering at sea you must be at least 3 nautical miles from land, notify the EPA within 30 days of scattering, and avoid beaches and wading pools. You must obtain a permit to scatter on federal land. You can also scatter the ashes, but NOT the container, from the air as the government doesnât consider cremains to be hazardous material. If the container isnât biodegradable you must remove the ashes from the container before scattering.
