- What is Preplanning and why should I do it?
Pre-need or preplanning is one of the best ways to cover cremation expenses in the future. Preplanning cremation gives you the ability to create a sense of security knowing your family will not have to worry during a passing about payment and final arrangements. - What happens to my cremation plan if I relocate?
There’s always a possibility that in the future, you may change your mind or relocate. Neptune Society offers flexible prepaid cremation options to handle relocation or travel.
- What should I do when a death occurs?
The first thing you must do is call Neptune Society so we can assist you with your immediate need. Professionally trained staff will be dispatched to your location to transport the deceased to a climate controlled facility for proper care. Neptune Society will help you with the cremation process every step of the way.

- How is the deceased cremated?
The process of cremation is discussed further in this guide. In order to obtain the ashes of a loved one who has died, the cremation chamber uses high heat. Another process then takes place to further reduce the remaining fragments. The ashes are then placed in a container such as an urn.
- What should I do with jewelry and gold teeth during cremation?
When considering cremation as an option, we do not recommend leaving pacemakers, jewelry, gold teeth, or other important belongings with the deceased. Pacemakers pose a combustion hazard while jewelry and gold teeth oxidize so there will be nothing left. We do suggest, however, that if you are planning to put the urn in a columbarium or a similar setup to display such jewelry along with your loved one’s mementos.
- Can I use my veteran’s benefits if I choose cremation?
Veterans who qualify for cremation benefits according to the US Department of Veterans Affairs’ eligibility requirements will be able to obtain free space available in a National Cemetery accepting cremation services. A veteran may also qualify to obtain a free headstone or marker, burial flag, Presidential Memorial Certificate, $300 worth of reimbursement on the cremation service, along with (if you have applied) survivor benefits for his/her family.
- How do I know if I qualify for veteran’s benefits?
